GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND APPLICATIONS
Benzyl Chloride is widely used as an intermediate for manufacturing organic compounds including benzyl alcohol, Benzyl Cyanide and other benzyl compounds. It is used in fuel as a gum inhibitor. Benzal chloride, (dichloromethyl)benzene, is a clear to yellowish liquid; Its oxidation reaction with an alkali produces Benzaldehyde. alpha-Chlorinated toluenes are used in the end applications of perfumery, dyes, pharmaceuticals, synthetic resins, photographic chemicals, warfare chemicals, Penicillins, quaternary ammonium compounds, plasticizer and esters.
